Montana Renewable Energy Fair
Event in Butte July 21 offer free workshops on solar, wind, biodiesel power

Join the Montana Renewable Energy Association for its 2nd Annual Montana Renewable Energy Fair! The fair is free and open to the public, and will be held Saturday, July 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Center for Appropriate Technology, 3040 Continental Drive in Butte.

If you’re interested in renewable energy, you won't want to miss this event. There will be an all-day schedule of free workshops led by experts from around Montana on topics including solar, wind, micro-hydro, fuel cells, ground-source heat pumps, biodiesel, energy efficiency and financial incentives.

Interested in alternative vehicles? The fair will include a car show featuring electric, hybrid, biodiesel, and solar-powered cars.

And that’s not all: there will be food, drinks and live entertainment, including the Red Mountain Band, River Rose, Platinum Street Jazz, NAIA Native American Dancers, African Drumming, and Sisters of Hidden Fire Belly Dancers.

Kids' activities will include solar car races, solar oven construction, recycled glass art, face painting and a bouncy castle.

The Montana Renewable Energy Fair is organized by the Montana Renewable Energy Association, a nonprofit organization with a mission to increase the use of renewable energy in Montana through policy change and public education.

Major sponsors of the event include Independent Power Systems of Bozeman and the Energy Promotion and Development Division of the Montana Department of Commerce.

  • Fuel Cells (Hugo Schmidt, Montana State University)

  • Micro-Hydro Power (Mark Dickson, Simple Power LLC)

  • Biodiesel (Matt Elsaesser, SAVE Foundation)

  • Ground-Source Heat Pumps (Brian Patzer, Intermountain Heating and Air Conditioning)
